The 2 button stop working on both of our Wii motes. It seems like the Wii thinks the button is stuck, but the remotes are clean and the buttons are not sticky. For example, when trying to play Super Mario 3 on Virtual Console it goes straight past where you push to select the world, and the first thing Mario does is jump. The 2 buttons are not responsive then. When I called Nintendo, they have never heard of this happening before. It is unlikely to be a remote problem since neither work all of the sudden, so they want us to send in our whole system to diagnose the problem. I have the same problem, here in Italy.
It looks like wii receives a constant ''button 2'' input from the remote.
I cant play any vc game because, for example, in Lords of thunder the wii chooses my weapns, my world (the first voices on the menu, voices that are activated by pressing the 2 button).
Prior to that i have experienced a cursor freezing in games like Bleach or PES. I only needed to detach / attach the nunchuck,prolly becaus of a ''too many inputs'' situation. Thats really weird ad i cant find any info :(
Resync the wiimotes plus if you have a gamecube controller hooked up make sure the buttons aren't pushed on it.That was my number 2 wiiremote source of error.
