If you consider snowboarding a sport, then I would consider SSX Blur as the best sports game (with the exception of Wii Sports). I was in your same position a few weeks ago so I looked online for reviews of games (was getting tired of my current stock). This review encouraged me to pick it up. Normally I only buy Nintendo-made games but this time I decided to venture off ;)
I think the best Wii sports game is Wii Sports.
