It would be simple for Nintendo to simply have a certain grade of quality that all games must achieve to be on their system. A game doesn't have to be great, it just has to work. They could just have a standard on how good the graphics have to be, eliminating N64 visuals. They could have testers to see if the controls are working and do what is wanted at least 90% of the time. I could go on, but you get the point. The question is, will they do it? Is it preferable to have high sales from kids moms who don't know any better, or to attract the hardcore market by compelling devs to make better games? I honestly don't know. An improvment in games means an improvement in sales, but do they really need that right now, when they can't meet demand as it is? I think that Nintendo will start fullfilling our dreams when they need the sales, right now they don't. However, i would still like them to at least have a simple rating system and post the score of each game on the front of the box. It wouldn't force devs to make better games, but i think they might be compelled if their game has a big 1/10 on the box.My opinion on shovelware
First Nintendo has already stated why they are allowing the crap to come to the wii. Second the crap was released on the PS2 and PS1. 90% of the PS1 and PS2 were utter garbage. The most popular console always gets the lion's share of the garbage.N64 and Gamecube tried to enforce quality among the titles coming to them and developers didn't like that so they went to Sony. Bother to look into the issue and you will see it is nothing new and actually a good thing to have. My opinion on shovelware
I think that'd be a waste of time. That, and it wouldn't help Nintendo out at all, it'd just cost money to pay people to review the games. Leave that to the actual reviewers.
Yeah the Wii gets some shovelware, but so did the PS2 if you'd remember. It's always a problem with systems that sell so well. The fact is, it's just crappy developers that release those crap games, and eventually they'll flop. Even though these crap games sell a little they'll never be truly successful, unless it's some kind of fluke.
Bad developers will almost always be bad developers, and will ultimately be unsuccessful, unless they learn and do what they need to do.
That would be a waste of time on Nintendo's part.Crap games don't sell so it's the developers decision to what they want to put on shelves.
