Im also wondering what happens with adding someone to an online game. Do you get a unique number code for every game, or can you make your own username for online games?
Say I wanted to play an online game with someone, how would i know if theyre online or does the Wii tell me which people are online atm?
Recently I found out that xbox online games need to be payed for to play online. Do you think Nintendo will introduce payments for online gaming sometime in the future?
Sorry theres so many questions but im just curious because I cant get MK Wii off my brain lol :)Wii online (wi-fi) questions and usernam ...
Hmm...I think that Wii online games aren't so many just because the developers don't make the games to be played online.
It's not that the Wii can't handle too many people...it's my opinion.
As for the usernames, i think that yes, you get a unique number for every game. It would be great to have one for all your online games.
And for the last one, it would be so cool to have one channel for viewing which player is online or not...
Oh and not to forget, i don't think Nintendo would introduce payments in the future...Why to do such a thing? If Nintendo wanted payments she would have done it when the Wii came out...

So how does the wi-fi actually work, do you sit and wait for someone to come online or how does it work? How do you kno when other people are on??
Well depending on the game (Like I have smash bros) there will be a friend list that shows u who is online or not, whats stupid is that many game developers have no idea what to make for the Wi (because of the new interactive controls) thats the reason why the wii is sooooo slow, game wise.
1.no it takes alot of people at once2.individual per game3.most games will4.in the future but only on particular games (none untill it is announced) so brawl will be free still :)
Speaking from my Brawl experience. The wifi setup usually has something along the lines of Friends play or random play. Random is just that, no names and you'll automatically get matched up with someone else. With Friends play you need the friends code and you exchange it with someone. When you both get each others code then if you create a room the other person will be able to see that and request to join. (This part may sound complicated but is not) And if say you create a room and a person on your list joins and plays after the first match your friend may get control of the room. If that happens, then if someone on his list but not on your list joins, then you can request to add that person to your own list. Nintendo plans to add a pay service, but as far I know, I think this is a supplement. For example you may be able to play free with other people but with all the hassle of codes or no names and such, or you can pay for none of that hassle. It's all speculation though. Whatever game is free online now, is gonna stay free. Some games in the future may only have pay online. But the way it is, pay may make online better because Nintendo doesn't have to get stingy with servers. To get a similar experience to a better online though, you can look for IRC channels or special websites geared toward making nintendo wifi community. Like if no one is on your friends list you can hop in a channel and ask for a game. If the person is on then you can just exchange codes and play. You can also communicate this way because there is no voice chat so just type online with text.
